Our Guild held it's inaugural meeting in March 1951 and was one of the original 19 Guilds that helped formed the National Association as it stands to-day.
2011 will see us celebrate our 60th anniversary.
We are proud that within the walls of Truro Cathedral hangs a curtain depicting Cornish life and on the Bardic chair sits a cushion, both of which were designed by members of the Guild, using the traditional techniques of hand spinning, dyeing and weaving. They were presented to the Grand Bard at the annual Gorseth in 1990 and interestingly to point out that the Grand Bard at that time is none other than Chairman, John Chesterfield, holding Office from 2006 - 2011
We hold two meetings a month:
on the third Friday at Tresillian Village Hall just outside Truro and
on the fourth Saturday at the W.I Hall in Chacewater.
We also hold Weavers Days 4 times a year at Chacewater W.I Hall
Our first President, Violetta Thurstan, has her loom sitting in Penryn Museum and her house is on the Penryn Historic Trail
